Today while closing the windows in the basement because of the storm that was coming, I saw a little bitty fluff of black... and it started hopping!  Then I noticed that it was chirping at regular intervals and that it had a bill coming out of it!  It was a baby bird!  I watched it for like a minute, hopping around and looking for somewhere to go as the rain was coming down it finally settled to go under a wheelbarrel... so I went outside and I told my dad about it and he said he might have seen the same bird yesterday when pulling up bushes... and he said that when he saw the bird, he put the bush he was removing back!  I went outside to see the bird up-close and it was kind of cornered near where our chimney protrudes from the outside wall of the house... and for a minute, it kept chirping... and then suddenly it turned around, looking at me, and opened it's mouth WIDE and started yelling!  And then I think it was because I was like motioning to it to move away, under this wheelbarrel we have, but it got scared at my motion, thinking it was threatening, and so it started kind of charging at me... so I slowly backed away, and it went off on its own.

In Praise of Self-Deprecation
The buzzard has nothing to fault himself with.
Scruples are alien to the black panther.
Piranhas do not doubt the rightness of their actions.
The rattlesnake approves of himself without reservations.

The self-critical jackal does not exist.
The locust, alligator, trichina, horsefly
life as they live and are glad of it.

They killer-whale's heart weighs one hundred kilos
but in other respects it is light.

THere is nothing more animal-like
than a clear conscience
on the third planet of the Sun.

Nope, no progress!
Yeah... I don't think it's really gotten any better... so the long-term projection now becomes:
UNHAPPINESS, yay!!!

Irshad Manji interview on WNYC

Listen to her interview on the Leonard Lopate Show... I like what she's saying... too bad she has this fake-sounding voice (as though she's reading off of something).  I wish I'd gone to see her at the Puck building with Leslie Stahl.

Studying?
Yeah... I seem to not care about this exam.  I guess I'm going to have to just do physics for the next 4 weeks to do well on the last exam and then I can pass this class!  Don't worry, more posts about my confused future, which is currently up in the air, will soon follow this one!
